DEER SKINNING 101
Cut skin completely around front
legs, 3" to 4" from shoulder. Then cut through arm pits to
your original incision. (See sketch below)
After skinning and rolling cap
forward to ears, cut neck completely off (see sketch). Do not
attempt to skin head! Freeze immediately if possible; if not, keep
on ice and rush to taxidermist!

Care of Trophies
Small Animals: Coyote or
smaller FREEZE whole - Don’t gut or skin animal. Freeze as soon as possible.
Fish: Do
not
gut fish! Ice down as soon as caught or as quickly as possible. Wrap the
fish in a wet cloth or newspaper, then place in plastic and freeze
Birds: Protect
the feathers as best you can. Carry a pair of panty hose or stockings in
your hunting bag & drop he bird in head first. This will hold the feathers
in place. Wrap in newspaper and freeze.
